Never let go…

2009 February 22
by Solilo

This is like an epidemic. No..no I am not talking about plague but tags. It is everywhere. So much that when I blog hop now I dread to see one.  As a newbie blogger I loved it at first but as they say, too much of anything is bad.

With this thought what do you expect me to do? Write a different post, right? Naah! I jump on the bandwagon and do a tag myself.  *trying to hide my face* :D

I was tagged by Deeps sometime back to write about my thoughts on holding hands. The exact question is

‘What does holding hands mean to me’

My mother to me: You are part of me. I will love you everlastingly.

The first time my mom held me and took my fist to plant a kiss. I don’t remember it but I can definitely envisage it. It meant that I didn’t need any introduction.  She felt me every single day inside her. I could sense her too. Her holding hand was further confirmation of what I meant to her. When I hold my mom’s hands it is to fortify the promise that I will always be there for her just like she is for me.

My father to me: Daughters are forever; I’m so glad you’re mine.

When dad held my hand and walked slowly as I took my first steps, it was a promise to look after me. I knew I could never fall because my dad was there to support me. It made me secure and still helps to face life’s challenges better. When I hold my dad’s hands it is to fortify the promise that I will always be there for him just like he is for me.

I to my brother: we are bonded for life by nature.

The first time I laid eyes on that tiny wiggly thing, I hated the very sight of him but then he clenches my fingers and we were bonded for life. This quote aptly describes us “we know one another’s faults, virtues, catastrophes, mortifications, triumphs, rivalries, desires, and how long we can each hang by our hands to a bar”.

(My husband and me) Our promise to each other: When they ask me what I liked best, I will tell them it was you.

I knew I was his forever when the first time my other half gently but firmly cupped his hand with mine. It was the promise to be with me for eternity. On a tired evening we don’t need to utter a word and then he grasp my hand with a gentle squeeze cures every ache in my heart.

I to my daughter: You are  my angel sent from above to fill my heart with unending love.

The first time I held her little pink fist it was a miracle which was part of me. Each day when I wake her up with a kiss and hold her hands I find a zeal to do better in life for her.

To friends: Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.

The quote says it all. Holding hands with friends means I am there for them always.

To all those unknown faces reading this: Let us hold hands and unite to make a difference and bring positive change.

I am tagging everyone who reads this. What does holding hands mean to you?

    Lol… *smirks*

same feeling… on one hand I feel I dont want to be tagged, but at the same time I love doing it too…

    Not sure where I stand…

This is very well drafted and the holding hands post is heartwarming…

My mother to me: You are part of me. I will love you everlastingly.

    I concur… I love that line…

    me: Dhiren, If you like then please do the tag. {{Hugs}}

What an absolutely beautiful way to do the tag Solilo! :)
Your words touched my heart… :)
and made me remember so many moments….

This is beautiful…and so many relationships that you have been blessed with..*touchwood*
makes one truly treasure what one has doesnt it? :)

((hugs))my friend for a tag that was done from the heart :)

and what a beautiful picture!Who took it?

me: Which one? The one in the banner or this hand holding one? The banner one details check here and the holding hands one is googled. Remember you and I both used this picture before on another tag.

  5. 2009 February 22

” I knew I was his forever”… where do you hear this line these days, except in the movies? And the love continues to cure every ache in your heart. Wow…one could be excused for thinking that one was reading an old novel, if one didn’t know on which page one was!

me: Mr. Sharma :D I think after this tag Yash Chopra might call me as his script writer. I should have posted a Mush alert :D :D

  6. 2009 February 22

You did the tag very well.

From the tight clasp of a baby on our fingers and a gentle squeeze by a lover to the holding on by a friend so many feelings pass through when we hold hands. Holding hands is so casual and yet it connects us. But it’s a pity that people are reluctant to hold hands in public. Two men holding hands will symbolize that they are gay and two friends of the opposite sex holding hands will signify love. It is my eager and fervent wish and hope that this most simple and basic of pleasures, this most important and meaningful and heartful gesture could be something everyone can do anywhere without a fear of the society.

    Keep Blogging!!

me: Biju, you did the tag on my comment space. Beautiful.

  7. 2009 February 22

Well we veteran bloggers,go like ‘here we go again’ when we see a tag after a while,it would catch on and spread :P I avoid everything related to movies and those ones with boring question :P lol,I have a new tag idea, but will save for now ;)

    on the post :-
Imagine our heros who hold hands with the heroines and fight…now that is holding hands ;)

me: Oye veteran! How is your board exam preparation going on? All the best.

me: That is the best feeling for a mother :) . Varunavi, you should do the tag, if interested.

    So touching this latest soliloquy!

me: Thanks Vikas. Did you check my comment on last post?

    • 2009 February 22

Yeah! I did. It’s okay. One can always check it in the dashboard (except non WP users).

me: I know :) . I wish WP could have something where they can ignore blog host’s comments based on IP. What do you say about that? Anyways not a big deal.

      • 2009 February 23

Hmm! You can suggest it to the WP admin to ignore host’s comments based on IP/cookie.

Yes, not a big deal indeed. As for me the more the number of comments the better it looks (even if that includes mine).

Sometimes, I have really quickly responded to my comment replies if I am online and get email notifications in my mailbox and the vice versa. Poonam calls me ‘nimble’!

I have three tags pending now and I don’t see a future for them in near future!

BTW, you may want to check and display your hero avatar (a la roopscoop.wordpress.com)!

Also, Solilo, I recently gave elaborate suggestions to Nita on her Delhi 6 post on why it should not be a priority for her to reply to every comment. You may read that. Someday I will suggest manager Poonam to devise a protocol on this.

me: What is WP admin’s id? I don’t think many would agree with my suggestion so let it be. I can always choose to reply like this and others who like reply button can choose that. After all it is our choice :) .

I am a new blogger. Started just 2 months back. I am just getting to know fellow bloggers so I love interaction. There are times when I haven’t replied when the topic put forth didn’t have anything to discuss but just a video or a thought like ‘Ek paise ki auqat’ one. But other times I like to reply. Of course if I lack time then I wouldn’t reply. Still I love interacting with the ones who are courteous enough to leave a reply. Many read but never reply..again their choice.

LOL @ Blog manager Poonam. Does Poonam know this?

      • 2009 February 24

        1. No email ID of WP admin; You have to usually go to the support page and fill the form; http://support.wordpress.com/contact/

        2. You may start a discussion on this in the WP forums too. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/

        3. You may ask timethief on http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com Nita vouches for her and it is timethief who has been most helpful to her when she was trying to find her feet in the blogosphere.

        4. You may join Blogcatalog and join so many discussion there and make good friends.

        3. To get quick notice, it is also advisable to give your suggestion in the comment to any new feature to WP’s latest announcement. For example, in their latest announcement on Comment threading, I wrote a long comment reviewing the feature and suggested them to introduce a signature option with the posts (that will contain some HTML, even our name, social bookmarking, pic) just like signatures in our emails! They thought I wrote a long comment to drive traffic to my blog and did not publish it; we even exchanged elaborate emails on this it is still held for moderation!

        4. That is how I address Poonam (blogosphere manager) but never told her of it. It suits her. She was also the main manager for the Avante Garde Blogging awards last year (see the page link in her header).

        5. Many people may not be reading the replies to your comments but what the heck you are doing what you ought to do.

        6. I am also a new blogger and will soon withdraw because exam season is coming and will last until November! My blogging actually began on January 1, 2009 though the blog was registered in August 2008 and I had actually filled some pages (fearing WP may punish me if I left it empty accusing me of domain hijacking!).

        7. You are popular in a very short time, needless to say. Way to go!

1,2,3: As I said before it is actually not a problem for many and a personal choice so doesn’t bother me :) but thanks for that onecool site address. I might use it to clear other doubts.

5: Most people who comment here come back and read comments and they too take the pain to reply. Just like me they might take time too but reply whenever possible and at times they don’t if it is not relevant. It is a personal choice. I am not forced into anything.

6: Post when you get time. Blogging should be fun not a chore :) . All the best for your exams.

Thanks for some wonderful suggestions, Vikas.

    Holding hands!
Yes it does mean so much … it does mean love and bonding!
“When they ask me what I liked best, I will tell them it was you” Lovely words.

I also agree, “we know one another’s faults, virtues, catastrophes, mortifications, triumphs, rivalries, desires, and how long we can each hang by our hands to a bar.”
    Extremely apt!

Solilo I was tagged by Usha Pisharody and my post on ‘Boys and Girls holding hands’ was the on the tag … I know I cheated a little :)

me: That love one is a quote from ‘City of Angels’. You cheater..let me go read again. You always write beautifully.

    me: Thanks Aathira.

  23. 2009 February 22

Well if you put it this way “I am tagging everyone who reads this. What does holding hands mean to you?” Guess, I will have to do it. Dude. I have like 5 tags pending so…ahh I need to be a better time manager …

me: Dude..do it :D Me too have some pending.

  24. 2009 February 22

    Hi Solilo,

You made the words speak, sing, hug, pat, every word busy in doing something to the reader without lazing away the wonderful time you have allowed them to conquer the hearts.

I hold ur hand because I know what you’d do would be good for me without harming anybody who is not me!

Aha! I carry home the impression after visiting ur blog.

    Nanda

Holding hands according to me is saying to each other ” All my tomorrows depend on your love! ” ( This is a quote that I made up myself long long ago, which is very close to my heart !)

me: Vimmu, that is a beautiful quote.

  33. 2009 February 23

    Very nicely written.

    me: Thanks Dev.

  35. 2009 February 28

    Wonderful post!!
    A quote on holding hands.
Do no try to get the jar off my head, because it hurts when you pull. Please simply sit next to me and hold my hand, and the jar will soon come off itself.
    ~ Winnie the Pooh

me: That is such a cute quote.

  36. 2009 May 5

Beautifully written Solilo! You don’t seem to be a two month old blogger. You express your feelings so beautifully in words. You have written about your dad and mom, as if you remember each and every move of theirs towards you. God, what you wrote about their touch, your brother’s, your husband’s, your daughter’s and your friends’, you have not left any extra words/feelings, for other bloggers!

me: Sandhya, I am almost a 5 month blogger now. You are so kind. Thank you. This tag was so beautiful. Almost everyone who did it wrote wonderfully. Do search on other blogs. I am sure you will love reading those too. If you like then do take this tag.

Did you have the habit of writing letters (by hand) to anyone, when you were young, i.e. before the email yug? This is an art by itself, Solilo.

me: Have you read this post of mine? I used to love letter writing.

My periamma used to hug everyone while welcoming them, home. She was always touching people to show her affection and I started doing it later on. Really, the reaction is very interesting. Most of the people feel clumsy, but slowly, people surrounding me have started doing it. My husband is still clumsy about hugging his sons! I asked him to hug his son, when we saw him after quite a while. I asked him to do so at home, before leaving and you should have seen him doing it….he was looking like a small child. He just hugged for a second, looked at me and dropped down his hands! Otherwise he is very caring, everything. If they are unwell, he will be the won who worries all the time.

me: Dads are like that. They don’t show much love but we know that they care. I can remember when I had pneumonia, he sat by my bedside the whole night wiping my face and talking to me.

I think I will read each and every blog of yours, Solilo! Thanks for a good reading.

    me: Thank you, Sandhya.

  37. 2009 October 15

    Very well done Sols :)

    me: Thanks Swar.

  38. 2009 October 15
